Abstract

This study is dedicated to a critical analysis of the systemic crisis of traditional management accounting in the context of the high volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA) of the modern business environment. It is argued that its delayed, retrospective, and rigid model creates a dangerous gap between the speed of business decision-making and the pace of financial reporting, turning the finance function from a strategic navigator into a factor that reduces organizational adaptability. As a conceptual response to these challenges, a philosophy of flexible management accounting is proposed, based on the principles of continuity (rolling forecast), scenario planning (what-if analysis), modularity, and a focus on future cash flows. The study details the multi-layered digital foundation necessary for its implementation, including business intelligence (BI) platforms, corporate performance management (CPM) systems, cloud data storage, and Beyond Budgeting methodologies. It is concluded that such a comprehensive transition transforms the role of the financier from a controller into a strategic partner and creates a new operating system for decision-making, providing a sustainable competitive advantage by increasing organizational speed and intelligence.
