The analysis of Future technologies sub-index of the Network Readiness Index (on the example of Azerbaijan)

Abstract

The article analysis Future technologies sub-index of the Network Readiness Index in Azerbaijan. The relationship between Foreign trade sub-index (FTi) of the Index of Leftness (Rightness) of Economy and Availability of latest technologies indicator of Future technologies sub-index in high income and upper-middle income countries is researched. It has been established that liberalization of foreign trade, in particular in Azerbaijan, can have a positive impact on Availability of latest technologies indicator. The correlation analysis between Availability of latest technologies and Computer software spending indicators of Future technologies sub-index in upper-middle income countries is conducted. Imports of more amount of new technologies in country, to a certain extent, can increase demand on computer software and lead to an increase of spending on it. Along with this, creating of favorable conditions for imports of more amount of new technologies in country can be not sufficient for it.
