Recently, there has been a trend towards the revival of rural and mountainous areas of Europe. International migration flows are a key element in this development dynamic. The arrival of migrants in European rural and mountainous areas represents both an opportunity for the development of these areas and creates a number of problems. Migrants can fill the gaps in local labor markets created by the outflow of young people and the reduction in the number of remaining local residents, but the process of economic and social integration of migrants can be problematic. This study analyzes the economic and social aspects of the international migration process related to the behavior of local entrepreneurs, self-employment of migrants, the role of the economy and its impact on local communities. This article presents the results obtained as a result of a study of various sources. The study used a qualitative research approach, as well as various methods, including observation, to obtain data and compare them. The results showed various features of economic and social integration, decisions of local economic entities, the reaction of local communities, the role of migrant entrepreneurship in economic development.
