Annotation. The article analyzes the labor market as an economic category. The authors show that the state of the labor market characterizes the functioning of the national reproductive system, and also plays a decisive role in assessing the social and economic policy of the state. The article analyzes the impact on the labor market of such factors as the nature and trends of the demographic situation, structure of the economically active population, as well as the level of migration. It is these that have a direct impact on the magnitude of the supply of labor in the labor market. It is emphasized that the transition of society to a new technological order will lead to structural changes in the labor market.
