DIGITALIZATION OF HIGHER EDUCATION: NEW TRENDS, OPPORTUNITIES AND PROSPECTS

Abstract

The rapidly developing digital economy penetrates into all spheres of economic activity and, as a result, generates the need for specialists who are proficient in digital technologies. The article analyzes the process of digitalization of higher education in the Nizhny Novgorod region. An assessment of the satisfaction of the needs of the digital economy in IT specialists is presented. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the technical level of institutions of higher education, as well as their costs for the introduction and use of digital technologies. In this aspect, the article reveals the provision of universities with personal computers and information technologies, how quickly this equipment allows you to receive information over the Internet. The dynamics of improving the technical component of the educational process has been investigated. The article reflects the actions of universities in the Nizhny Novgorod region to create prerequisites for the use of technologies of large databases and artificial intelligence. It is shown how quickly universities begin to build up technological and informational components in the educational process. The article reflects the existing problems of preparing graduates for the needs of the digital economy. These problems were identified by conducting an online survey of students of the N.N. N.I. Lobachevsky, studying in the specialty "State and Municipal Administration". Recommendations for further improvement of the distance education process in higher educational institutions are presented. The introduction of these recommendations into distance learning will allow training students with new digital competencies and ensure that the supply of labor is more in line with the demand for it in the Nizhny Novgorod region. All this proves the high practical significance of the new provisions reflected in the article.
