Comprehensive assessment of the pandemic on the economies of developed and developing countries

Abstract

The emergence and spread of the new disease Covid-19, which is based on the coronavirus, was declared by WHO as a pandemic on March 11, 2020. However, the current situation raises many doubts about the need to take tough measures in the national economies of the world (with the exception of Sweden and Belarus). According to the WHO, the new virus has spread almost all over the world, which has led to the adoption of quarantine measures in many countries. Quarantine measures for the period established by the presidents and governments of such countries provide for the closure of socio-cultural and educational institutions, trade enterprises (with the exception of food products, medical and chemical products), manufacturing enterprises and other organizations. In an effort to curb the unprecedented rate of spread of COVID-19, many countries have imposed travel restrictions, lockdowns, asylum procedures and social distancing, resulting in sudden and massive disruptions to manufacturing, supply chains, and the release of goods and services. These global shocks triggered negative global economic shocks that negatively impacted financial markets in both developed and developing countries. Analysts estimate that large-scale disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic are more severe in developing countries, where population densities are higher and health systems are less developed. Thus, our research focuses on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on markets in both advanced and emerging economies. The latest literature examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stock markets in the United States (USA) and China, as well as the impact on global gross domestic product (GDP), none of these studies examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the stock markets of developing countries. compared to developed markets.
